September Meeting Highlights

Thanks to everyone who attended our first meeting of the year last night.  Here are some highlights of what we discussed:

+ Megan Stevens was elected as our President for this year.  Congratulations Megan!
+ In the Box Top Challenge, the University of Iowa won.  The Box Tops collected will earn the PTO around $250 when submitted.  There will be another challenge this fall between the classrooms, so save up your Box Tops.
+Samuelson PTO also collects: Labels for Education (Campbells Soup, Goldfish Crackers, etc), Tyson Project A+ Labels and used printer cartridges & old cellphones.  Simply send these items into the school office.  Thanks!
+A blue note was sent home on Tuesday with information on our participation in the Beaverdale Fall Parade.  More details will come home Thursday once our place in the line-up is known.
+School Pictures are Tuesday, October 9.  Another Volunteer is needed that morning (8:30 to approx. noon) to help get kids to and from the photographer.
+ The PTO will provide a dinner for Teachers during Conferences on Thursday, October 24.  When it gets closer, we'll be asking for donations of desserts and drinks.
+ The Scholastic Book Fair is on October 17, 24, and 25.  Volunteers are needed to help set-up, sell books, and take down the Fair between 2 and 8 pm each day.
+The Walk-a-Thon is Friday, October 12.  Packets will come home with students on Tuesday, September 25.  Volunteers may be needed next week to help assemble the packets.  More details on the prizes will be posted soon!  All proceeds will go toward our Technology Fund and general PTO activities.

Our Next Meeting is Tuesday, October 9 at 6:30 in the library.  We hope to see you soon!
