Fall Volunteers Needed!

Fall Book Fair
The Fall Scholastic Book Fair is coming up soon and volunteers are needed to help with this great literacy activity.  Not only does the Book Fair offer great books at reasonable prices (the average book is $5), but it helps raise funds for literacy materials at Samuelson.  Depending on sales, we'll earn 40-55% of sales that will be used to purchase Listening Stations for our classrooms.  Our goal is to provide a Listening Station for each classroom (approx $350) using the Book Fair profit, and we're getting close!  To reach our goal, we need help on the following dates and times:
  • Wednesday, October 17 from 2-9 pm,
  • Wednesday, October 24 from 2-9 pm, and
  • Thursday, October  from 3-9 pm
During these times we'll be setting up the Book Fair in the gym, selling books, and packing up the Fair each night at 8 pm.  The times right after school are often the hardest to fill, so please consider using some vacation time from work to help.  Or if you pick-up your child(ren) after school, you could stay and help then too.  Anytime you can help - wether an hour or more - is greatly appreciated.  The Book Fair occurs duing Conferences, so consider helping out before or after meeting with the Teachers.  You're already in the building then  :)

Staff Appreciation Dinner
The PTO will provide dinner for Samuelson Staff on Wednesday, October 24 during conferences as a small Thank-you for the time they spend with our students.  PTO will provide sandwiches and we're looking for volunteers to donate the following items:
  • Chips, Pretzels, etc
  • Beverages (2 liters of pop, lemonade, ice tea, etc)
  • Dessert for 1-2 dozen people
  • Paper goods such as plates, napkins, cups, etc
A few people are also needed that day to help set-up the food in the Teacher's lounge after school dismissal.  If you would like to donate any of these items or are avaliable to help set-up, please contact Heather Silberhorn at: 5silberhorns@gmail.com
