October PTO Meeting Highlights

Here are the highlights from the Samuelson PTO meeting held on Tuesday, October 9th.

+ The school directories were sent home last week.  Since the printing format was changed, the cost was lower than projected.  A few extras were ordered to go home with new students as they enroll during the school year.
+ Fall Pictures were taken on Tuesday, October 9th.  Information on a Retake Day will come home later after the pictures are delivered.
+ The Walk-a-Thon is this Friday, October 12.  Grades 2, 4, and 5 will walk at 2 pm and Grades K, 1, and 3 will walk at 2:30 pm.  Parents are encouraged to come walk with their students.  Results will be tallied next week.  The Classroom Popcorn parties, Principal Pizza Party, and Target Gift Card Drawings will happen soon after that.  The other prizes - bracelets, water bottles, and t-shirts - will take a little longer to arrive, but will be sent home as soon as possible.
+ Teacher Dinner.  PTO is providing sandwiches, chips, and dessert for the Samuelson Staff on Wednesday, October 24 during conferences.  Contact Heather Silberhorn (274-3688 or 5silberhorns@gmail.com) if you'd like to donate some of the meal items.
+ Scholastic Book Fair is Wednesday, October 17 and 24, and Thursday, October 25.  Volunteers are needed for an hour (or two) to help set-up, sell books, and pack-up.  Due to the Conference schedule, we have to set-up and take down each night, so extra volunteers are needed.  Contact Heather Silberhorn at 274-3688 or 5silberhorns@gmail.com for more information.
+ Samuelson Gear.  Order forms for t-shirts and hoodies will come home at the end of October and be due two weeks later.  We have a new design this year (that we hope to debut at the Book Fair) and is different than the Limited Edition shirts for the Walk-a-Thon.
+ Fall Parties.  Classroom Parties are on Friday, November 16.  Sign-ups to donate treats, etc for the parties will be available during Conferences.
+Box Tops and Labels for Education.  Keep sending in the Labels for Education!  There will be another Box Tops collection challenge coming up so save those labels!
+ Printer Cartridges & Staples.  Keep sending in used printer cartridges to the office.  The PTO takes them to Staples for a $2 credit per cartridge.  We then use the credit to purchase needed school supplies - dry erase markers are always needed!
+ Restaurant Nights.  Megan Stevens is researching some Restaurant Fundraising nights and will have more information (and dates) soon.
