I hope everyone has been enjoying Winter Break. Once school starts again next week, planning for several PTO activities needs to swing into high gear. Please take a minute to check out what is happening and see how you can help out!
Fun Night Planning Meeting - Tuesday, January 10 School Library at approx 7:15 (following the regular PTO Meeting at 6:30 pm)
If you've ever had an idea for something new and different for Fun Night or just wondered what it was all about, come join us!
Teacher's Dinner - Wednesday, February 15 starting at 1:50
PTO provides a dinner for our building staff during Conferences. Due to the change in the Spring Conference Schedule (three evenings in Febraury instead of a Wed/Thursday before Spring Break in March), we decided having sandwiches, chips, etc that teachers can take back to their rooms (between dismissal at 1:50 and Conferences starting at 4) would be the best option. We will be catering the sandwiches, but are looking for donations for the following items: 2 litters of pop, ice tea, lemonade, bags of chips, desserts, fruits and veggies. I also need a few people to help set-up the meal (around 1 pm) and clean-up at the end of the night (around 7pm) If you can help or bring in items, please let me know!
Spring Book Fair - Weds, February 15, Tuesday, February 21 and Thursday, February 23 4 to 8 pm
The change in the Conference schedule also means changes for the Book Fair. The Book Fair will be held each night in the school gym. This means we will have to take down and set up each day. We are using the gym instead of the lunch room so Metro Kids doesn't have to move into the gym each day - it is a lot of work for them to do that.
The following volunteers are needed each night of the Fair: 8 people to help sell books from 4 to 8 pm; 4 people to help pack-up from 8 to 9 pm (more hands means it goes much faster!) and 4 volunteers to help set-up (starting at 2 pm on 2/15. The set-up time for the other days will be determined next week-probably around 3).
The Book Fair is my favorite PTO activity - I like seeing kids excited to pick-out book(s). And we can earn 55-65% of sales for our classrooms. However, my work and kids schedule won't let me be there as much this Spring as I have been in the past. I can help get the set-up process started on 2/21 and 23 but I can't stay the whole time. Can you help?
5th Grade Recognition Planning Meeting - Monday, January 23 at 5 pm in the library
The PTO provides the funds each year for the 5th graders to celebrate their elementary years before moving onto middle school. The event is held during the afternoon of the last full day of school. June may seem a long way off, but the time to start planning is now. Please plan on attending to learn how you can help.
To help with any of these projects, or if you have any questions, please let me know!
